04/2017 - Missing person, Alderney

The Channel Islands Air Search aircraft was called out at 1645 hrs on Monday 20th March 2017 by Guernsey Police through Guernsey Coastguard to search for a missing person in Alderney.

The aircraft took off at 1720 hrs and routed direct to the north east corner of Alderney, and returned to Guernsey, after locating the missing person, at 1845 hrs.

The Alderney Police and Fire Brigade were also involved in this search.

Search Director James Ridout said the aircraft was tasked to search the south coast of Alderney in conjunction with the Alderney Lifeboat.  Following an extensive coastal search to the south, the aircraft was tasked to search the north coast of Alderney, before the search area was narrowed to an area around Fort Doyle.  The missing person was located in the vicinity of Fort Doyle and Police personnel were directed by the aircraft into the area.

The aircraft landed at Guernsey at 1845 hrs, having been airborne for one hour and 25 minutes.
