1402/2026 - Persons in water, Jersey

The Service was alerted by Guernsey Coastguard at 1754 hrs and requested to assist with a search for two children thought to be in the water off Jersey’s east coast. It had been reported that they were on a paddleboard that had been washed ashore shortly after they had been seen on it. 

Coming off blocks at 1828 hrs, Lions’ Pride departed from runway 09 at 1832 hrs and set course for the search area. 

Arriving on scene at 1850 hrs, the Crew were tasked by Jersey Coastguard to conduct a shoreline search between La Coupe Point and the southern end of Grouville Bay, with a reciprocal track three cables out to sea. The St Helier ALB and St Catherine’s ILB were also in attendance, as well as Jersey’s drone unit.  

Various objects were sighted and discounted, with a blue and white paddleboard being observed on the shore of Gorey Bay. This was quickly discounted from the search. 

Having made several passes of the area, Jersey Coastguard requested a parallel track search starting in the area of Bouley Bay, working out to sea, followed by a shoreline search of Jersey’s north coast. 

Having completed the tasking, the Crew were stood down by Jersey Coastguard, who were content that the area had been saturated and that nobody was in danger. 

Lions’ Pride returned to Guernsey, landing on runway 09 at 2008hrs, was refuelled and made ready for service.
