05/2013 - Man overboard yacht off Guernsey

12/05/2013

The service was called out at 12.57p.m. on Sunday 12th May 2013 by Guernsey Coastguard to continue the search for a man who fell overboard from French Yacht ‘Jouvente’.

The aircraft took off at 1.30p.m and searched the area between the West Coast of Guernsey and the Casquets Light House.

This was the third search conducted relating to this incident.

As the tide was now running in a Northerly direction the service was requested to search a corridor between the Boue Blondel Reef, off the West coast and the Casquets reef, approximately 25 miles long.

This was completed without success. Lion’s Pride then proceeded to search the areas surrounding the Hanois Light House and the South coast of Guernsey.

Again, unfortunately nothing was found.

The aircraft landed at Guernsey at 3.40 p.m, having been airborne for 2 hours10 minutes and searched an area of approximately 50 square miles
