The Channel Islands Air Search aircraft, call sign Air Search One, was called out at 6.00 a.m. on Monday 7th September by French Coastguard Cross Jobourg MRCC, to search for an overde French yacht which had left Jersey on Saturday morning and had not yet reached its destination of St. Malo.

The aircraft took off at 6.35 a.m. having been tasked to search the area between Port Gorey and St. Malo to the east of the Minquies Reef.

An Air Search crew member said "Shortly after reaching Jersey a number of small vessels were easily seen, however these were quickly eliminated from the search.  At 6.55 a.m. we received information from Cross Jobourg stating that the casualty vessel had been found in St. Malo harbour.  We were therefor stood down."

The aircraft landed at Guernsey at 7.45 a.m. having subsequently engaged in crew training, and been airborne for one hour and 10 minutes.
