12/2013 - Life raft reported off Jersey

“Lions’ Pride” was called out at  2.50p.m. on 5th August 2013 by Jersey Coastguard to search for a life raft reported off the West coast of Jersey.  

The aircraft took off at 3.10 p.m and headed to the search area.

The life raft was located within 10 minutes of searching and smoke flares were deployed enabling St Helier life boat to retrieve it from the water.

The life raft was deployed however it was confirmed by Jersey Coastguard that it had fallen from a vessel earlier that day and no persons were missing. Conditions were rough with wave height reported  between 2-3 metres resulting in yachts passing the life raft without seeing it.

Visibility was good and the crew were relieved to establish that there was no threat to life.

The aircraft landed at Guernsey at 3.55 p.m, having been airborne for 1 hour 15 minutes.
