The Channel Islands Air Search aircraft G-BEXJ call sign Air Search One, was called out at 05:20 on 23/06/17 by Jersey Coastguard to search for an elderly person missing on the North coast cliff area of Jersey.

The aircraft took off at 06:00 and headed to Jersey.

An Airsearch crew member said “We were tasked to search the cliff paths and coastline between Bonne Nuit Bay and Le Taqu and after arriving on scene, quickly established a search pattern giving good visibility of the coastline. After a few minutes an object was sighted in Devils Hole which we considered needed to be examined more closely by ground or sea borne assets. With the assistance of St Catherine’s Life Boat, and police units this object was ruled out as were several others. We continued to search as directed until 07:50 when, following further information, we were stood down.”

The aircraft landed at Guernsey at 08:05, having been airborne for two hours and five minutes and searched approximately 10 miles of coastline.
