Trustees:

Chairman of the Trustees (Jersey): Advocate Simon Young

Simon is an Advocate of the Royal Court of Jersey and is presently holds the role of Batonnier.  He is a member of the Law Society of Jersey, has served on various sub-committees over the years and was also a member of the Board of Examiners for the Jersey Advocates and Solicitors examinations.  After 30 years of practising as a litigation partner in Jersey, he is now a director of Bond Trust Limited.  Simon is also a qualified Mediator.  He has held a pilot’s licence since 1984 and credits as one of his life’s achievements an aircraft delivery from Jersey to Toowoomba in Australia and several trips across the North Atlantic, including a madcap crossing from Jersey to Montreal in a piston single.  He took the plunge and entered the boating arena in 2020 and is delighted to serve as a trustee for CIAS.

 

Vice Chairman (Jersey): The Very Rev. Mike Keirle

Mike Keirle is the Dean of Jersey. He was rector of St Martin's Parish Church in Guernsey from 2003 to 2017, when he moved to Jersey. During his time in Guernsey, he was a member of the Air Search crew, and we are delighted that he has become a trustee.

 

Commander Colin Ferbrache O.B.E. (Guernsey)

Commander Colin Ferbrache OBE served for 25 years in the Royal Navy.  He specialised as a helicopter pilot but in addition commanded the fishery protection vessel HMS Guernsey and the type 21 frigate HMS Alacrity.  On returning to Guernsey in 1993 he joined the Air Search crew, and served as Chief Officer from 2008 until 2015.

 

Advocate Alan Binnington (Jersey)

Alan Binnington is a Jersey advocate and private client director at Royal Bank of Canada Wealth Management. He is a former President of the National Trust for Jersey and the Law Society of Jersey. He is currently the President of the Jersey Association of Trust Companies. He has a private pilots licence (not current) and is a keen boater, having been a member of the RNLI and Friends of Air Search for many years.

 

Louis Jouault (Jersey)

Louis was born and educated in Jersey.  He has a Bsc Hons in Mathematics and ATPL(A).  Currently, Louis is the Chief Pilot and Head of Operations for a local family flying world wide in a Falcon 900 and Citation Jet.  His early flying career saw him as an AIR UK/KLM  Training Captain and former Jersey Aero Club Flying Instructor.  He was the Channel Islands Chess Champion in 2016 and is the current President of the Jersey Chess Federation. He also enjoys Spearfishing and sailing on his brother's boat.

Peter Mourant retired as senior partner of Mourant du Feu & Jeune in 2000. His interests include travel and boating having owned various boats for over 50 years.

He has been involved in a number of charitable organisations. He is a past President of the Lions Club of Jersey, an Honorary Vice-President of the Jubilee Sailing Trust and a member of the Committee of the Jersey Blind Society.

He also serves as a Relief Magistrate and is a Procureur du Bien Public of the Parish of St Saviour.

 

Peter Gill (Guernsey)

Peter Gill returned to Guernsey after a career at sea and ashore with a major oil company. He held senior posts in Brunei and South Africa. His final position was head of Port and Terminal projects with responsibility for skill pool, placements and career progression for Master Mariners. In 2005 he was appointed Harbourmaster at St Peter Port and Registrar of British Ships. This position also included responsibility for maritime search and rescue. He retired at the end of 2013.

He is currently the RNLI Lifeboat Operations Manager in Guernsey.

  

Alan Richards (Guernsey)

Alan Richards is a Chartered Engineer and Fellow of the Institution of Mechanical Engineers. He has been a supporter of Air Search for 25 years and is a former chairman of Guernsey Friends of Air Search. As a long distance sailor, he understands the value of the service provided by the aircraft and crew.

 

Gareth Le Page (Guernsey)  -  Search Crew Manager

Gareth Le Page is a Chartered Insurance Broker and a Fellow of the Chartered Insurance Institute. He is a director of Channel Insurance Brokers and a past president of the Insurance Institute of Guernsey. In addition to being a Trustee, Gareth is also an operational crew member and search crew manager, having joined the service at the end of 2017.

 

David Clark (Guernsey)

After qualifying with the Institute of Chartered Accountants in England & Wales in 1987, David’s early career was as an audit professional. He moved to Guernsey in 1989 and joined the Civil Service in 1993, progressing to Chief Officer for the Treasury & Resources Department and States Treasurer.

Having subsequently served as executive director of a global private equity group for seven years, in 2014 David was appointed to his current role as Non-Executive Chairman of  a local Asset Management company.

Besides serving as a Trustee of Channel Islands Air Search, David currently holds a number of honorary positions including Director of Carers Guernsey and Accounts Examiner for the Association of Guernsey Charities.

Mike Quarrington is a Fellow of the Institute of Chartered Accountants in England and Wales and a member of the Chartered Institute for Securities and Investments. He was a partner in BDO Reads, Chartered Accountants in Guernsey, for 15 years and was subsequently managing director of MPR Asset Management (Guernsey) Ltd. He is now retired but holds a number of non-executive directorships.

Accountable Manager (Guernsey): John Fitzgerald

John Fitzgerald was born and educated on Guernsey and has spent his professional life in the photographic industry.  As well as being well known for his portrait photography, he also runs a busy professional laboratory, looking after the requirements of Channel Island and UK clients.  He joined Air Search a little over 28 years ago and quickly took on the role of the FLIR trainer, a role he continues with the new aircraft. He enjoys the team work involved with his position as Search Crew Manager.
