04/2014 - Men in the water off Guernsey

The Channel Islands Air Search aircraft , call sign Air Search One, was called out at 3.30 p.m. on Friday 14th November 2014 by Guernsey Coastguard to search for two men sighted in the water off Fermain Bay, believed from a vessel in distress.

The aircraft took off at 4 p.m. and headed towards the search area.

An Air Search crew member said "Following take off, on initial radio contact with Guernsey Coast Guard, it was established that both men were safe, one being recovered from the water the other having swum ashore.  CIAS were therefore stood down, and a training exercise for crew was conducted."

The aircraft landed at Guernsey at 5.35 p.m., having been airborne for 1 hour and 35minutes.
