Jersey Friends of Air SearchPresident's Report 2002This year since the last AGM has seen our income still very good. It would seem that as we have kept Air Search in prime local focus, people have thought of the Charity whenever funds were needed. We have attended the South Pier Shipyard Show and although not a lot of goods were sold, giving away the free baseball caps, kept that profile going. A lot of feedback was given about the video which was prepared by Channel TV’s Su Loyd and this was kept running during the day along with the other video from the Sailing Trust. Our lunches have been popular, with the one last October seeing our Patron, His Excellency the Lieutenant-Governor Air Chief Marshal Sir John Cheshire and his wife Lady Sam, spending the afternoon enjoying a fine meal with not having any press around, they could enjoy it. They even managed to get a trip out to Les Ecrehou through the auspices of Don Filleul and Derek Short. I am led to believe a good time was had there. Can I thank Ron Baudet for his organising skills with the Potteries. Can I thank Ron McLean for his secretarial skills and may I say that I am sorry to see the departure of three of our Committee, Chris Bentley, who has helped me through a tough spell, Harry Fenn, who has been a stalwart over the many years and finally to our ever resourceful treasurer, Derek Short, who has used his tireless efforts to raise funds over many years. Thank you to you all. Without your help, I am sure that Air Search would not have gained so much. I am also pleased that Rob and Louis are continuing on the Committee. I was also going to stand down this time, however the person whom I had approached to take over the Chair is committed for a period of time, where it may be seen that he could be biased with regards to Air Search if he had taken the Chair at this time, so I am staying on to complete the continuity until such time as that he is available.
