Jersey Friends of Air SearchPresident's Report 2000The year 2000 has seen a busy year for the Jersey Friends. Various functions were attended over the year, including the Jersey Fayre, which was held at the Department of Agriculture & Fisheries in Trinity. Several thousand people attended over the two days and many Jersey Wonders and hot dogs were sold by Friends. The weather was kind to us and the sun even showed through the clouds as well. A lot of the year was taken up in raising funds for FLIR and eventually it is now fitted and operational. The feedback from the crew members is very good and dare I ask, "What did we do before FLIR?". The Treasurer of Jersey Friends, Derek Short had worked extremely hard as did the other committee members, in raising funds and Air Search has a debt to them for all their hard work. We held our usual Sunday lunches at the Hotel Ambassedeur and the Ommoroo Hotel and again they were a success in raising funds. However next year, we intend to branch out and go a bit more up-market and we may be able to entice more people to come and dig into their pockets. Ron Baudet our experienced 'Stores' man, has come up trumps and using his contacts in the clothing field, has managed to purchase complete new and updated stock of sweatshirts, pilot shirts and ties with a more modern and up to date logo, which have even been shipped to Guernsey!
